Your Name/Artist Name

Tiffany Clitheroe

Where are you based?

Exmouth, Western Australia

What genre of art/photography describes your work best?

My work ranges from Acrylic on canvas, detailed pen and ink drawings and large scale murals.

How did you get into your artistic pursuit?

My mother is a professional artist, so I grew up unknowingly learning how to draw and paint. I kept practicing these skills however and really fell in love with the craft and have carried it with me through my life. Over the past 5 years I have decided to make it my complete focus.

Motivations.

It has taken me some time to understand arts place in the world, But I have come to realize its significance and purpose. Art is the creation of culture; it brings people together with a united identity. You express yourself through art and allow other to express themselves through the connection to it. To be able to see the role Art plays in the bigger picture gives me the motivation and drive to keep creating.

How do you sell your work.

I exhibit my work in the local art gallery in Exmouth “Ningaloo Inspired” and various places around the town. I also sell via private contact.

Favourite Fine Art Paper.

Hahnemuhle 290gsm Hemp

Favourite artist/poet/author/anyone that you admire/influences you.

The environment, natures patterns and rhythms are the biggest influence on my work, The place where I find the most Inspiration.

As for Artists, I was a big Salvador Dali fan growing up, the skill and cleverness of his work always captivated me, his ability to transport people into another realm and turn everything upside down.

Street art was another thing I really admired, the anonymity of the artists, therefore freedom to express anything through it, the boldness of the colour and messages they create.

Richey Beckett is an artist I am really liking now, his Intricate detailed pen and ink style is amazing and his process and connection to the natural world utilizing patterns sourced from the environment around him. Also how he has linked his work to the music scene and created works for many well known bands. I used to dream of making posters for my favourite bands.

Of course my Mum! Her work has fascinated me and continues to do so, she helped me see the world in colour, light and shadow.

Any words of wisdom/resources for other artists.

“Fear is Nature’s way of telling you, you’re about to grow”. This quote has got me through some moments where you can become frozen, it urges you to step forward, when fear is holding you to the ground.

Future plans/projects.

I am Currently waiting for approval for the biggest mural project I have ever attempted in the city of Bayswater. Other than that, I will continue to make pieces and put them out there to be seen.
